Mark Meyer
Visiting Professor Creative AI
Mark Meyer is a designer and educator who bridges the gap between human-centered design and complex technical systems. He is an interim professor for Creative AI and Design at HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd. His previous positions include working as Associate Design Director at McKinsey & Company.
His work focuses on designing AI-enabled products in high-stakes domains, particularly Life Sciences and MedTech. He is especially interested in the translation work required between data scientists, engineers, and end users—making sophisticated technical systems usable and useful for the people who rely on them. His master thesis explored the role of design in creating beneficial AI, investigating design patterns for explainability, meaningful human oversight, and keeping humans in the loop of algorithmic decision-making – topics he has further deepened and explored in his work at McKinsey.
He holds an M.A. in Strategic Design and a B.A. in Interaction Design, both from the HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd. He has worked extensively with QuantumBlack, McKinsey’s AI division, on building products and services under high-risk medical conditions. He has taught at HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd and HEC Paris.
